Is This Really Photography?

Open Gallery Exhibition

May 10-11, 2014

“Is This Really Photography?”

Photography has traditionally been seen as a medium that documents an honest portrayal of the world. This definition has been turned upside down by technology and a generation of photographers that have taken it upon themselves to test this convention.

Vincent DiLeo is one of the many photographers who fully embrace digital tools and experimental methods that supersede Photoshop.

He begins the process by combining multiple photographs and high resolution scans of found objects. Photoshop and Illustrator are then used to create the final image.  Some of his recent abstract work include the use of his cell phone to create images as a basis for some of his abstract photographs.

Vincent’s colorful abstract collage photographs are a  study of light, reflection and color. They will be featured in an exhibition called "Is This Really Photography" on view on Mother's Day May 10-11, 2014. This is a free event open to the public.

This exhibition will take place at the artists home gallery and is part of the North Auburn Art Studios Tour. For a map of the participating artists see: www.northauburnartists.com. or visit www.vincentdileo.com
