Placer Co. Sheriff: Woman in custody after driving car at deputy
News

A Roseville woman is in the hospital after allegedly leading Placer County sheriff's deputies on a car chase and then trying to hit a deputy with her car Wednesday afternoon.

The Placer County Sheriff's Office said around 2 p.m. deputies tried to pull over 61-year-old Dawn Olson in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 because she was driving 15 mph. Officials said Olson did not pull over and continued to drive eastbound on I-80 up to Bell Road, with her speed varying between 15 and 70 mph.

At Bell Road, deputies put out stop sticks, which then deflated the two passenger-side tires on Olson's car. Officials said Olson kept going and drove her car straight toward a sheriff's SUV and a deputy.

The deputy was able to jump out of the way to avoid being hit by her car. The sheriff's office said after her car stopped, Olson refused to get out of the vehicle. It took several deputies to take her into custody.

Olson was taken to the hospital and will later be booked on charges of evading an officer and driving under the influence.
