School bus crashes down ditch and into power pole in Placer County
News

A school bus carrying six students went into a ditch and struck a power pole Wednesday in Placer County, knocking down power lines that touched the bus.

None of the students were injured, the California Highway Patrol said. Information about the age of the students and the school they attended was not immediately available.

The crash occurred at about 4 p.m. on Wise Road near Mount Vernon Road northwest of Auburn, CHP said. The bus driver over-corrected while making the turn, sending the bus down a ditch and into a power pole.

Emergency officials kept the students on the bus for about 90 minutes to ensure that they could disembark safely. Officials eventually determined that the power lines were not active.
