Low snow and late season storm surprise Foothill residents

GRASS VALLEY, CA - All the snow and hail in the Foothills overnight and Sunday morning caught many people off guard. Several residents sounded off on the low snow and late-season storm.

Richard Barlow was out getting his morning paper in the Chicago Park area of Grass Valley. When he woke up, there was 3 quarter of an inch of snow on his front deck.

"Usually by now, we're getting into more of the sunshine pattern-- maybe drizzly rain but not snow come down this far," said Barlow.

Snow levels were reported as low as 2,000 feet in the Foothills Sunday morning. Chain controls started at Colfax.

“I’m one of those people who can’t walk and chew gum at the same time, so juggling is out of the question,” Laura Scarborough said.

Laura Scarborough’s blog, Adventures in Juggling, is about a Manteca mom’s life with a husband, five kids, one of which has special needs, three pets and being a RN at the neo-natal intensive care unit, NICU.

“We started in 2005, back then it was a kind of a curiosity.”

Laura started journaling after her son Daniel was born. Daniel was born premature and has autism [CORRECTION: Daniel was born premature and has many struggles related to his extreme premature birth, Laura said in her blog].
