Bayside Church of Granite Bay holding Easter Sunday services at mall

Bayside Church of Granite Bay holding Easter Sunday services at mall

This year Bayside Church of Granite Bay is holding Easter Sunday services at the Galleria Mall in Roseville, instead of at the church.

Nearly 10,000 people are expected to attend Easter services at an outdoor stadium normally set up for tennis matches in the Nordstrom parking lot. Bayside will host two services (9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.) on Sunday April 20 and feature nationally known artist David Garibaldi, author and speaker Francis Chan and music led by recording artist and Bayside Worship leader Lincoln Brewster.

During the services, attendees will be able to sign-up for Bayside’s second ever “Serve Day,” a program designed to serve those in our community by painting, cleaning, building and generally helping thousands in need within across the greater Sacramento region. Last time, Bayside shut its doors so nearly 10,000 volunteers could serve at more than 120 projects. Serve Day 2014 will be held May 24 and 25.

Increase in Flu Activity is Reported

Increase in Flu Activity is Reported

Dr. Ron Chapman, director of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and state health officer, says while we are seeing an increase in flu activity in California it is not an unexpected increase, nor is it too late to get vaccinated against the flu.

"California is seeing an accelerated increase in flu activity over the past few weeks," said Dr. Chapman. "You can help prevent further spread of the flu by getting a flu shot."

While influenza activity varies from year to year and is unpredictable, California generally sees an increase in cases in late December or early January and it often peaks in February or March. According to CDPH surveillance indicators, influenza activity in California is beginning to show a steady increase and is now considered to be widespread. Currently, there are more hospitalizations at this point than expected, based on historical trends.
