On May third during the "BIG Day of Giving" 570  non-profits will come together to raise $6 million in 24 hours. Only three Nevada County non-profits are participating. This year The Center for the Arts aims to engage 150 donors and raise $20,000 to expand programs and make arts accessible to all.

For the past two years, the BIG Day of Giving has rallied our community in raising nearly $9 million from over 36,000 donors from all over our region, the state, the country and the world. The BIG Day of Giving is an opportunity not only for donors to show their community pride and support the non-profits that are working hard to make our region great, it is also a year-long capacity building program that helps nonprofit participants hone their skills in marketing, social media, and board and donor engagement.

BIG Day of Giving is also a part of a national giving day called Give Local America. Our region will join hundreds of communities across the country on May 3rd as we cross the finish line together! Last year, Give Local America raised over $68 million in 24 hours for over 9,000 nonprofits.

For The Center for the Arts in downtown Grass Valley the Big day of Giving comes appropriately during their Spring Membership Drive which runs through the month of May.  The Center will participate in the BIG Day of Giving by conducting an outreach campaign to the community on May 3.

As a non-profit organization, membership support is critical for The Center to continue to bring diverse, consistent and quality programming to Nevada County. In addition to supporting a non profit institution in our community, a membership provides great benefits.

The Center will use the funds specifically for programs that are inclusive of all;   Youth Arts Education , National travelling theater performances for children, Performance Arts Guild (PAG), Summer Camp scholarships, Free Family Fun Day, 3*2*1 SING! free community sing-a-long.

The BIG Day of Giving has been generously supported by incentive partners who are providing a pool of incentive dollars to boost giving with prize challenges and to partially cover fees associated with the technology needed to facilitate an online giving event.  Additionally, participating nonprofits have the opportunity to add matching funds to their donation pages. Donors can be assured that investments made on May 3rd will be amplified in a variety of ways.

Outreach and Business partners in the community have been incredibly generous in their support of BIG Day of Giving as ambassadors by getting the word out and encouraging others to give to strengthen our nonprofit sector.

Center Executive Director Julie Baker says, "The Center makes an impact in the Sacramento region by bringing over 40%, on average, of our attendees from outside of Nevada County, therefore we were invited to participate in Big Day of Giving. This is incredibly exciting for Nevada County in terms of the economic impact we make and because of the cultural development we encourage."
