Where's the Relief?

Where's the Relief?

By now, we’ve all heard the news, “CA and NY have joined the multi-state mortgage settlement.” As a real estate and mortgage professional, I did (legal) loan modifications for nearly four years and I can assure you, California joining this lawsuit will do little to help California home owners struggling to keep their homes.

Let’s look at the facts, the most important one being that CA has six out of the top ten cities in the nation hardest hit by declining home values (Modesto (4), Merced (5), Stockton (7), Riverside (8), Bakersfield (9), and Vallejo/Fairfield (10), with many of them 30-50% underwater.

The bottom line is this, a $20,000 principal forgiveness is not nearly enough to help balance out the numbers from underwater to break-even.

Home Buyers - Stop Waiting and Start Moving

Home Buyers - Stop Waiting and Start Moving

If you are still paying rent - your landlord is laughing all the way to the bank - STOP making your landlord rich - You can have your home.

Make your move NOW - Such an exciting time to buy a home whether you are a first time homebuyer, investor or have owned a home before - Interest rates are at an historic low with rates at 3.75% on a 30 year fixed loan.

Of course you want to talk with your mortgage professional to find out how much home you can afford – and talking with your lender is the very first step in the homebuying process – this way you know how much home you can afford before getting your hopes up on a place that is out of reach.

Healthy Holiday Travel Tips

Healthy Holiday Travel Tips

By Dr. Bruce Kaler, U.S. HealthWorks

Here are some tips to make sure you reach your destination this holiday season without contracting a nasty cold or the flu.

Get a flu vaccine as soon as possible: The current vaccine is widely available in almost all communities. It takes a minimum of two weeks to develop any immunity after receiving the flu shot. Although this requires acting soon and planning ahead, it is the absolute most important factor.

Get adequate rest the night before travel: Having seven to eight hours of restorative sleep will give you a fighting chance of resisting whatever exposure you get when traveling. Travel days are usually long and hectic.
