Denio’s Roseville Farmers Market & Swap Meet will be celebrating “Something on a Stick Day” by hosting its 4th Annual Corn Dog Eating Contest on Saturday, March 23, 2013. Also included in the celebration will be a fun day of wiener dog festivities organized by Roseville & Lincoln’s Long Lovers Dachshund group.

“Something on a Stick Day,” which is officially celebrated on March 28th will be celebrated at Denio’s a few days early by inviting the entire community to come watch and even participate if they’d like in a competition in which the winner will leave with the coveted Corndog Trophy and a Grand prize of $200 cash. Second prize winner will walk away with $100 cash and the 3rd place winner $50 cash. The hungriest contestant is the one that can eat the most corn dogs as possible during the four minute matchup. Anyone interested in competing can email info@DeniosMarket.com or call (916) 782-2704 (space is limited).

Families and dog lovers will enjoy cheering on their favorite wiener dog during the inaugural Wiener Dog Races and the Wiener Dog Costume Parade being organized by Roseville & Lincoln’s Long Lovers Dachshund group. For information on taking part in the wiener dog festivities, contact Lacey Cole via email at colelac@gmail.com.

“’Something on a Stick Day’ is among the most American of food holidays,” said Eric Denio, Marketing Manager of Denio’s Farmers Market & Swap Meet. “Hosting ‘Something on a Stick Day’ events at Denio’s has become a tradition for us and highlights our famous corn dogs, an item that has been at Denio’s since the mid-1960’s, and continues to have a loyal following among customers.”

These dog-gone crazy events take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2013. The Corn Dog eating contest will take place promptly at noon.

Denio’s is open every Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine. The Friday Farmers Market is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There is a $3 parking fee per car on Saturday & Sunday, so Denio’s encourages families to bring their friends. About Denio’s Farmers Market & Swap Meet
Denio’s Roseville Farmers Market was founded in 1947 by Jim and Marilee Denio. It began small, with a single individual selling produce near the Southern Pacific Railroad Yard. Denio’s has always been a family-oriented venture. As the auction grew, so did the Denio family. Today, Jim and Marilee’s son, Ken, carries on the family business by maintaining the same values and traditions started by his parents 66 years ago. With four generations on hand to serve you, Denio’s will continue to offer you fresh produce and bargain merchandise for years to come.
